  1. Which directors have most influenced your development?

    1. If you’re really interested I recommend checking out my profile at Mubi.com, where my taste is officially charted (http://mubi.com/users/59934). But roughly:

Kubrick for his perfectionism, problem-solving and photographic expertise.
Godard for his insouciance, intellect and innovation. (these alliterations are coincidental, I swear)
      Bergman for his… everything.
Greenaway for his brilliance, wit, irony and misanthropy, and his mastery in writing and artistry.

Nothing unexpected. I’ve been dropping the same names now for some time, but they are still the most influential. Myriad others exist, but I don’t know if there’s yet enough interest generated to warrant such prattling on. Orson Welles, Chris Marker, Lars Von Trier, David Cronenberg, Terrence Malick, Mike Leigh, Hal Hartley, and… most definitely… Hideako Anno.
